Ronny Green
Ronny Green, Ph.D. met his future wife in the 7th grade and they were in the same class through high school graduation. From day one they were good friends and dated several times during their high school years. With a smile, he likes to point out that she was their high school class valedictorian and he graduated with the class. During his freshman year, Dr. Green was surprised to see her walking down the sidewalk at USM. The last he knew she planned to move to Texas and attend TCU. He likes to say sometimes fate and magic are the same.
Delores is both the love of his life and best friend. She retired having served as a teacher of the gifted. They have one daughter, Deanna Joy Green, an intellectual property attorney in New York City. He loves to fish and earned a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo. Dr. Green retired from Valdosta State University as a tenured Professor in the Department of Educational
Leadership teaching leadership theory and mentoring doctoral students with an emphasis on leadership and
school improvement research.
His career experiences include serving in public education for over fifty-two years. These school site experiences include serving as a guidance counselor, school administrator, and school principal.
Dr. Green was recognized as a High Performing Principal by the Florida Department of Education. He later served on The Florida Department of Education Commissioner’s staff for five years working with the Florida Council on Educational Management coordinating principal development throughout all 67 of Florida’s School Districts.
He has served for years as a mentor to new principals and principals at failing schools via the Florida Department of Education’s principal mentoring programs.
